Celebrating Farm to School Month at SAUSD!

This October, Santa Ana Unified School District proudly celebrates Farm to School Month with our very own Farm2SAUSD initiative! We have a range of things on the menu to help us celebrate, from procuring locally sourced Dragon Fruit for Pitaya Parfait to bringing in sweet and tart Plum Apricots or Pluots to project-based learning.  In partnership with Earthroots Field School, we’re bringing hands-on food and eco-literacy education to Community Schools across the district — connecting students directly to the land, their food, and the science behind it all.

Throughout the year, Farm2SAUSD has been busy helping schools create vibrant school gardens — living classrooms where curiosity takes root and learning blossoms. These green spaces are designed to cultivate fresh food, creativity, and a love for the environment.

Students will explore science-aligned lessons featuring locally sourced fruits and vegetables, discovering how food grows, how ecosystems thrive, and how every bite connects us to our community.

Join us in celebrating the power of growing, learning, and nourishing together!
